That explains it!

Since this is MT entry #666, I guess it's appropriate to the topic at hand:

I am stupid.

I never would have known if not for the insightful (or perhaps I mean inciteful--we stupid folks get our homophones confused) words of a man by the name of Neil Starkman. Despite my 140 IQ, despite my BA magna cum laude, despite the fact that I'm over half way to a Master's Degree, despite the fact that I have a fairly large vocabulary and I'm not afraid to use it, despite the fact that I only have to take my shoes off to calculate really big numbers, according to Mr. Starkman I am stupid. This is because, he asserts, only stupid people approve of President Bush.

Thanks to CD of Semi-Intelligent Thoughts for pointing me to John Hawkins' excerpt of Starkman's column in a Seattle newspaper. Otherwise I would have continued in ignorance of my stupidity....

Yeah, saw this yesterday over at Tim Blair's.

Since I'm now trailer trash - guess I'll go find a holster for my pistol, mount up on my Harley and go find me a tatoo parlor. Then I'll get me a great big ole heart tatooed on my upper arm with "I Love Dubya" written on it. Ain't that what I'm sposed to be doin'???

Isn't it interesting how, whenever the psuedo-intelligencia can't think of any rational or factual argument they fall back on the stock in trade of trying to prove that they alone are intelligent beings by throwing up the claim that anyone who disagrees with their view isn't? I wonder which Five and Dime they got their degrees from? Having just achieved my Master of Arts after four hard years of research - keep yours going - it's worth every minute!

One thing I notice in the leftist condemnations of anyone who approves of (most of) what Bush has done is a complete absence of facts.

You know the really nasty thing about Sparkman's article? He pretty much summed up my feelings about the majority of the left. Which isn't to say I don't have some pretty smart friends on the other side of the fence. But they are in their early 20's and one expects the young to be liberal. When they have some "life experience" they'll come around.
