Megan dressed as a "Backyardigan" this year. Meet Uniqua:

Don't ask me why her tongue is blue...maybe it's part of the costume?
So my youngest niece Megan is now 3, and her parents took her to Florida on vacation. On the flight down, they asked her several times if she needed to use the restroom, and she declined each time. Later, my sister got up to use the facilities.
Megan: "Where'd Mommy go?"
Her Dad: "She went to the bathroom."
Megan, after a pause: "Did she get off?"

Just the thought of her makes me smile. And she was adorable--as usual--at our family's Thanksgiving. She's a little whirlwind, though...my mom calls her "tornado fingers"...

My darling niece Megan, following her first successful night trick-or-treating.
Some notable quotes:
"I like trick or treat!"
"I baby jaguar."
"Meow meow meow..."
(Yes, that's actually a pink dinosauer costume she's wearing...she was still Baby Jaguar!)
This is an older photo of my newest niece and one of her older cousins. The baby is now walking and "speaking" (Da Da, milk, wow!, car and uh-oh), but my sister hasn't given me any more recent pics!

So, what is the baby thinking?

This is one of my nephews, Zach, a few years back. I think I'd caption this with... "Set the milk here, barkeep, and keep 'em coming!"
Think you can do better? That's what the comments are for...
Here I am--looking confused by all the attention, I guess. Or maybe I'm just unhappy with the Royal Entourage.
I suspect that's my mother's arm projecting from my right (your left) side, since apparently I was too drunk (or maybe too young) to sit up on my own.

(UPDATE: Haloscan seems to be blocking my trackbacks...if anyone has any suggestions on how to get them to go through, I'd be grateful)
(UPDATE 2: I think I have it figured out--haloscan allows one ping per blog per day--that's from a blog to all of haloscan's trackback-enabled blogs....)
So I don't forget this week, I'm posting my KoK entry early (ish):
This little cutie is another of my nieces. I need this to remind me how sweet she really is, since she just recently turned into a teenager*...
*a mutant creation, formerly a member of the human species, and destined to become human once again in 5 or 6 years. Until then, all wise humans give "teenagers" a wide berth...
Jody over at Iowa Geek did a fabulous job with this week's Karnival of Kidz, linking all the entries in an amusing Fairy Tale. Go read the story, even if you don't click all the links to adorable children.
Next week's Host is Harvey of Bad Example, and yours truly will be hostessing again on August 8th. If you want to get in on the fun, just email karnival.kidz-at-gmail.com

These are two of my nieces, about 22 years apart in age....Do you think the little one is going to be a carrot top, too?
That the Karnival of Kids was in pre-production. Here's this week's, sans Susie....

What I find most interesting about comparing these two pictures is how my mom and brother seem to have exchanged hair color over the course of 30 years....
In honor of Father's Day, I present my Dad's first airplane ride:

I guess I was almost three when this was taken, because my sister (on the right) looks about one and a half. My mom is the tall one in the center...

While I don't remember the occasion of that photo, I vividly recall my little rocking chair--especially because a year or so later that same sister whacked her head on one of the rockers and had to get stitches. Um...it was the dog's fault...yeah, that's the ticket!
Karnival of Kids is up at Iowa Geek!
They always need hosts and hostesses, so volunteer by sending an email to karnival.kidz at gmail.com...

This is a photo of my grandmother's younger brother. I don't know why he was wearing a dress, but there are lots of baby pictures of him in drag. He grew up straight despite that--so far as we know....

Be good! I'm watching!
This is my niece Andrea, who recently got her drivers license. She's still a cutie-pie, and actually less whiny...

Andy, showing she knew the classic "hands at 10 and 2" steering wheel grip long before she ever took driver's ed.
Now you try...

I love this photo of my newest niece, and what the heck, entering it in the Karnival Of Kidz doesn't preclude captions, does it?
